BELLEVILLE, ONTARIO · COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP
A mall rooftop becomes a hive.
Quinte Mall and Operation BeeStrong are preparing a 2027 rooftop apiary at 290 North Front Street, supported by native pollinator gardens across the property and rooted in local learning, resilience, and shared stewardship.
THE COLLABORATION
Making room for pollinators in the heart of the city.
Launching in spring 2027, the project connects a major community gathering place with hands-on beekeeping expertise. Quinte Mall and Operation BeeStrong are transforming rooftop and ground-level spaces into a carefully planned habitat for healthy colonies and native pollinators.

One rooftop. Two essential roles.
QUINTE MALL
Providing the rooftop home
Quinte Mall will prepare rooftop areas and plant native pollinator gardens at key locations across the 290 North Front Street property, creating both a home for the hives and a diverse foraging habitat.
OPERATION BEESTRONG
Caring for the colony
Operation BeeStrong will guide hive placement, oversee seasonal colony care, and use the apiary as an active site for peer mentorship, bringing practical knowledge and purpose to a project designed to thrive.
